Ayah 1بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ وَٱلْمُرْسَلَٰتِ عُرْفًۭا

Ayah 2فَٱلْعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصْفًۭا
English Translation
and then storming on with a tempest's force!
3
Ayah 3وَٱلنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْرًۭا
English Translation
Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide,
4
Ayah 4فَٱلْفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرْقًۭا
English Translation
thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity,
5
Ayah 5فَٱلْمُلْقِيَٰتِ ذِكْرًا
English Translation
and then giving forth a reminder,
6
Ayah 6عُذْرًا أَوْ نُذْرًا
English Translation
[promising] freedom from blame or [offering] a warning!
7
Ayah 7إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٌۭ
English Translation
BEHOLD, all that you are told to expect will surely come to pass.
8
Ayah 8فَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ
English Translation
Thus, [it will come to pass] when the stars are effaced,
9
Ayah 9وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ
English Translation
and when the sky is rent asunder,
10
Ayah 10وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ
English Translation
and when the mountains are scattered like dust,
11
Ayah 11وَإِذَا ٱلرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ
English Translation
and when all the apostles are called together at a time appointed...
12
Ayah 12لِأَىِّ يَوْمٍ أُجِّلَتْ
English Translation
For what day has the term [of all this] been set?
13
Ayah 13لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفَصْلِ
English Translation
For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]!
14
Ayah 14وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ
English Translation
And what could make thee conceive what that Day of Distinction will be?
15
Ayah 15وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!
16
Ayah 16أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
English Translation
Did We not destroy [so many of] those [sinners] of olden days?
17
Ayah 17ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ
English Translation
And We shall let them be followed by those of later times:
18
Ayah 18كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ
English Translation
[for] thus do We deal with such as are lost in sin.
19
Ayah 19وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!
20
Ayah 20أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٍۢ مَّهِينٍۢ
English Translation
Did We not create you out of a humble fluid
21
Ayah 21فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ فِى قَرَارٍۢ مَّكِينٍ
English Translation
which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping
22
Ayah 22إِلَىٰ قَدَرٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ
English Translation
for a term pre-ordained?
23
Ayah 23فَقَدَرْنَا فَنِعْمَ ٱلْقَٰدِرُونَ
English Translation
Thus have We determined [the nature of man's creation]: and excellent indeed is Our power to determine [what is to be]!
24
Ayah 24وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe, on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!
25
Ayah 25أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ ٱلْأَرْضَ كِفَاتًا
English Translation
Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself
26
Ayah 26أَحْيَآءًۭ وَأَمْوَٰتًۭا
English Translation
the living and the dead?
27
Ayah 27وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِىَ شَٰمِخَٰتٍۢ وَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُم مَّآءًۭ فُرَاتًۭا
English Translation
and have We not set on it proud, firm mountains, and given you sweet water to drink?
28
Ayah 28وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!
29
Ayah 29ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ
English Translation
GO ON towards that [resurrection] which you were wont to call a lie!
30
Ayah 30ٱنطَلِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ ظِلٍّۢ ذِى ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٍۢ
English Translation
Go on towards the threefold shadow
31
Ayah 31لَّا ظَلِيلٍۢ وَلَا يُغْنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهَبِ
English Translation
that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame
32
Ayah 32إِنَّهَا تَرْمِى بِشَرَرٍۢ كَٱلْقَصْرِ
English Translation
which – behold!- will throw up sparks like [burning] logs,
33
Ayah 33كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَتٌۭ صُفْرٌۭ
English Translation
like giant fiery ropes!
34
Ayah 34وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth –
35
Ayah 35هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ
English Translation
that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word,
36
Ayah 36وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ
English Translation
nor be allowed to proffer excuses!
37
Ayah 37وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth –
38
Ayah 38هَٰذَا يَوْمُ ٱلْفَصْلِ ۖ جَمَعْنَٰكُمْ وَٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
English Translation
that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times;
39
Ayah 39فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌۭ فَكِيدُونِ
English Translation
and if you [think that you] have a subterfuge left, try to outwit Me!"
40
Ayah 40وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!
41
Ayah 41إِنَّ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ فِى ظِلَٰلٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ
English Translation
[AS AGAINST this,] behold, the God-conscious shall dwell amidst [cooling] shades and springs,
42
Ayah 42وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ
English Translation
and [partake of] whatever fruit they may desire;
43
Ayah 43كُلُوا۟ وَٱشْرَبُوا۟ هَنِيٓـًٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ
English Translation
[and they will be told:] "Eat and drink in good cheer in return for what you did [in life]!"
44
Ayah 44إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
English Translation
Thus, behold, do We reward the doers of good;
45
Ayah 45وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
[but] woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth!
46
Ayah 46كُلُوا۟ وَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَ
English Translation
EAT [your fill] and enjoy your life for a little while, O you who are lost in sin!
47
Ayah 47وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
[But] woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth,
48
Ayah 48وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱرْكَعُوا۟ لَا يَرْكَعُونَ
English Translation
and when they are told, "Bow down [before God]", do not bow down:
49
Ayah 49وَيْلٌۭ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
English Translation
woe on that Day unto those who give the to the truth!
50
Ayah 50فَبِأَىِّ حَدِيثٍۭ بَعْدَهُۥ يُؤْمِنُونَ
English Translation
In what other tiding, then, will they, after this, believe?
